A small update on my Etsy shop before the holiday comes. I have sticker pack for BTS Army out there, two sticker flakes the Hangry Bitch and the Kawaii Squash Cat Sandwich, printable calendar 2023 and two sticker sheets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can check all of these items here.
It’s been a relief to be able to get the items out before the important celebration of the year. So next, I’ll be busy with my webtoon work 🙂
For every purchase of the items in my Etsy shop, you’ll be getting freebies.
Yes, you heard me right. That didn’t come up at random. I had to brainstorm for this to make it happen. Not just for the free stickers you’ll be getting, but I’m talking about the free bookmark. I gave one out so now 99 is still available and i’ll be giving this as well as a freebie for the new buyers. Would you like to know why? Coz this bookmark I designed it with my business contact information included in it. Book lovers (hey, maybe you as well) will love and enjoy this free gift. It’s a good idea so that you won’t throw it away just like many business cards you received. This is just my effort to make a sale and show my appreciation for your interest in purchasing my art products 🙂
Stay tuned for the upcoming post. I’m sure you’ll like it! 😉 Visit my Etsy shop here.
There are a lot of things I need to catch up on especially releasing seasonal Etsy products that I made in advance since July. I just realized I couldn’t do all of them at once.
First, in August my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly. My family had to leave Geneva to return to Brunei the next day. It was as if it was a dream. Although I did not get to know my father-in-law as much, but he is a great ‘father’ who taught me many things that my own father couldn’t. He will certainly be missed.
The Change
Because of the sudden things that happen in our lives, there are very few changes that have to be made prior to our return to Geneva. First, after a discussion and a suggestion I have made, my mother-in-law remains with us. I suppose this is understandable because my husband is the only child and we could not let her live alone in Brunei, although she has many siblings. They have their own lives, their families, their commitment, and so on, so bring her here, it’s a great idea, and maybe it might help alleviate the grievance. I just hope I could adapt to the changes since I used to be alone doing things around the house like a housewife normally do and taking care of my autistic child’s needs. It’s still early to tell, but I’m just looking forward to a peaceful day.
Reopening My Etsy
Ever since we were in Brunei, I’ve been putting my Etsy on vacation. But we are back in Geneva now, so just a few days ago, I reopened the shop because I have to do the updates which were supposed to be released during the summer. I still don’t know what are you guys thinking about late-seasonal stickers though, but I think a journaler or a planner who documents their memories pretty late (I know I used to do that) would maybe appreciate them. If you guys are interested in having a Cottagecore sticker sheet, cute sticker flakes and art prints, you can browse them here in my Etsy shop. I updated the shop with 17 more items. Hopefully, this time they find home to yours.
This time, there are more art prints that have been produced. Some are old illustrations that I drew digitally and it was the first time, I’m selling sticker pack. Next update I’m going to do more.
Any suggestion on what should I draw next?
No A Baby Anymore
Last Saturday was my daughter’s 7-year birthday. I see how she grows up and quite a few times I felt it seemed like yesterday her height was below my waist and now I could embrace you without getting down to my knee. And you already know how to pout? I know it’s good for her to be more expressive now, but I’m still not used to it. Oh, the good news happened on 22nd October she blew out her birthday candles for the first time. Sigh. I don’t want time to go by so quickly. I realized how valuable every moment is.
Celebrated with the broken red velvet cake I made one day before her birthday. Thank God I can cover it up with the cheese frosting. Lol.
Happy birthday my sweet Omeng. I can’t believe you’re 7 years old already! You’re growing up so quickly and becoming such a big girl *sobs* I hope you know just how proud everyone is of you! May Allah showers you with so many blessings and help you to spend the future with lots of happiness and joy. I love you so much.
There are a few goals I want to accomplish this month. I currently have been busy making products for my future Etsy shop and I need to get ready to use any social media I have right now for the promotion and one of them is Twitter.
I hadn’t put any banner ever since I decided to use my Twitter as a means to share my life updates, announcing whenever there’s a new vlog has been uploaded on my YouTube channel and sharing my new artwork I’ve been creating. It used to be the image of Lake Leman, Geneva though. Since it had been empty for couple of months I decided to give it a new banner.
I illustrated this for my Twitter. I like to see my Twitter has a banner now. These are easy steps if want to change your Twitter banner.
Illustrated by mizarwen.
How to Change Your Twitter Banner
Make the banner. If you want to use any image you can do it. It’s the simplest and the fastest thing to do. But I want to transform my Twitter account as a way to promote my vlog and art so I decided to put my drawing as the banner. I’m using drawing app, Procreate to draw it.
The dimension size I use for the banner is 1500 px X 500 px because this is the standard size that Twitter recommended.
3. I made the illustration from scratch, by sketching it first and later on coloring it.
The sketch
4. After you are done with the drawing and save it into JPG or PNG, you then go to your Twitter profile located on the left sidebar.
5. Go and edit the image on top of display photo. Remove your old picture if you have one first and upload it into a new one.
Voila! You have new a banner now 🙂 Don’t forget to follow my Twitter account @dorriej1. I’m a bit chatty there. Stay safe, guys!❤️☺️
It’s another art post! This time it’s my Draw This in Your Style Challenge that I took from an illustrator I followed, lobomaravilha.
This wasn’t the only #DTIYS challenge I’ve created. Back when I’m still a noob in creating art digitally I did try Sara Faber’s DTIYS but I had to take it down because I wanted to upload only the one that suits my IG colour palette. And the reason I joined this is that I want to present my version because her art is so freaking cute! Plus, the character is almost the same as the character I draw for my future webtoon character, Lily. So I thought it would be easier for me to draw it (little that I know. Haha).
My style

It is still February. Spring is coming our way. What’s the weather in your country like right now? Here, in Switzerland, it is getting warmer and warmer. It is still chilly early in the morning though. I still have to wear my sweater inside when I accompanied my daughter to wait for her school van to pick her up from and when she returned from school. I noticed the day was warmer only around noon. That’s when I saw many people sitting on the bench or standing under the sun.
OMAD
I actually can’t wait for Ramadhan to come. It is the holy month of fasting for all Muslim. It’s almost a week I have done my One Meal a Day fasting where you fast 23 hours to lose weight. The reason is to lose weight to lower my health issue and it was my main objective at the beginning. However, as soon as I realized that Ramadhan month will be in April I just remember that I have to pay for my fasting days from last year. So during the duration of me performing this fasting (OMAD) I can also consider this as a practice before I do the official fasting. In a way, it is good. I can still drink water to dehydrate and drink only black coffee during the fasting (OMAD) so it is still doable. Aside from a growling stomach, I complain more when my hands and feet tend to get cold even the day is warm. That is the only thing that sucks.
Sticker Making
One of the sample of my future sticker.
I am a self-taught artist. Drawing is my passion. I’m focusing now on designing as many stickers as I can so that I can sell them online, whether they are physical stickers or digital downloads. So far I’ve done 2 different sheets of stickers with the same theme ‘breakfast’ and it is right now still in the process of printing by the printing company I chose back in my homeland, Brunei. I have not been able to purchase a cutting machine yet, but yes, that’s my wish list once I have the budget from the sales. I guess, the cheap cutting machine is okay for starters. I’m aiming for the Silhouette cutting machine to make the die-cut and kiss cut for my future stickers. I’ve read many good reviews. If there’s any of you readers possessed a Silhouette cutting machine, please give me some comments about this machine. I really appreciate your advice or tips.
I followed and subscribed to a lot of artists lately who owned online shop that sells stickers, prints, and other products. They also had given many tips on how to promote your product via Instagram. My second goal is to revamp my Instagram: the highlights, color palette display, and of course, adding more of my finished product to the platform. It is still in the process and thought in the past it is easily done, but actually there are a few other things that I need to do besides just uploading them on Instagram. And it is not easy as 1,2,3. Haha! I don’t know how the Instagram algorithm works, but if you do know that, please share. So yeah, please do follow and like them here.
